Journey
How Senua AI learned mathematics.
Most AI systems either guess at arithmetic from text they have read, or pass it to a calculator someone wrote. Senua AI learned it, from 30 August to 2 September 2026, by watching how numbers change.
Learning from the change in value
The engine was not shown rules. It was shown sequences of numbers changing, digit by digit, and learned the causal states of those changes: the carry in addition, the order of steps in long division, when an equation has been solved and it is time to stop. No calculator was written into it and no formula was typed in.
What it learned, and what was built on top
- Learned, and tested on held-out problems
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, long division, fractions, rotations in three dimensions, linear equations and quadratics.
- Defined over what was learned, and tested in smaller sets
- Complex numbers, two-by-two matrices and their eigenvalues, inequalities, whole-number roots, differentiation and integration of polynomials, factoring and primality.
